You can learn many things from children. How much patience you have, for instance.

Boundless Optimism

When we envisioned Big Sky Preschool we centred our focus on building an environment that would encourage joy and playfulness, that would nurture those first early sparks of curiosity and optimism.

We believe in building a confidence that makes emotional resilience possible. We believe in making time for words like 'sad' and 'angry' so we can learn how to hold and work with these parts of ourselves.

We start the process of understanding our boundaries and respecting other people's boundaries. A hug isn't worth having if it is taken.

We love questions, we love dancing and singing, we love joyful nonsense.

We embrace failure, we try to make mistakes, we seek out missteps, we aim to stumble, we want to make this difficult part of learning an expected and understood part of 'getting it wrong and getting back up again'. So much of learning will be hopping over mental barriers, the effort made to climb is what we celebrate. We hope to spark a positive association with this lifelong process.

Our name, Big Sky Preschool is intended to point our vision upwards and remind us of the early outlook we all have in our youth. Big Optimism, Big Possibilities, Big Dreams.
